The Oklahoma Waltz
"The Oklahoma Waltz" is a collection of my songs inspired by family stories and tales from Oklahoma history. Each song is introduced by a storyteller -- a family member, friend or the recorded voice of a historic person.
My first album was released as a cassette in 1992, and later updated for release as a CD.My family, the Blacks, were a founding family of Oklahoma--they came in the Land Run of 1889 and founded some of the most infamous saloons in the Oklahoma Territory. Storytelling and music were a part of my childhood. A fourth-generation Oklahoman, I turned many family stories into the songs in this album.
